Comments:
Took early retirement from newspapers in mid 2000s.
Recently returned to the workforce as a part-time school bus driver. "Don't even bother," I tell the kids. "Whatever you're planning, we did it 50 years ago. Uphill all the way and in snow, too." Friend in sobriety calls these 'get well' jobs, and I stole the idea for post-65 life. Makes me feel like I'm not dead yet.
Been working as a behind-the-scenes curling official for a few years at nationals and worlds and finally got to do an Olympic event this year. Not the actual Olympics. A qualifier. Still neat though.
And finally became a grandad in Dec.
School Story:
Foreshadowing my life, I was a 'tweener in high school. I'm class of '76, but after Gr 9 I figured since we only needed 27 of 32 credits (or something like that), I might as well take courses from a year ahead. So after a couple of years I was in more of your classes than my own year's. In my Gr 13 I only needed 2 credits, so lots of time for extracurriculars. Mind by then most of you lot had left so the Lounge got kinda dull.
Love this pic! Wife/partner switched from dragonboats to outrigger canoe and went to the world championships in Hilo, Hi for Canada in August (2024). I got to watch from the beach :)
Tahiti, New Zealand and Hawaii win most of the medals, but Sarah's team made a repechage and had the race of their lives to finish 5th.

Anyone remember the big snow storm of April 1975 ish? Took us a week to dig out. That's me and older brother Gord, who some of you may remember.

Went to Hawaii 2013 and brought back identical shirts for by boys and I. It's hot in Hawaii. The sun bakes your head.

Shopping for outdoor wear at the big and tall store. g/f rolls her eyes and says she can't take me anywhere, but as I pointed out, I actually drove so she's technically wrong.
